The Memory Experts ... Hynix Semiconductor Inc. (HSI) of Ichon, Korea, is an industry leader in the development, sales, marketing and distribution of high-quality semiconductors, including DRAM, SRAM, Flash memory and system IC devices. Since 1996, Hynix Semiconductor Manufacturing America (HSMA), has been manufacturing various forms of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) as well as SDRAM Short for Synchronous DRAM, a type of DRAM that can run at much higher clock speeds than conventional memory. SDRAM actually synchronizes itself with the CPU's bus and is capable of running at 133 MHz, about three times faster than conventional FPM RAM, and about twice as fast EDO RAM and BEDO RAM. The Hynix fab in Eugene is one out of eight of the largest fabs in the world. SDRAM is replacing EDO DRAM in many newer computers. Hynix's most recent manufacturing process has been DDR RAM, Short for Double Data Rate-Synchronous DRAM, a type of SDRAM that supports data transfers on both edges of each clock cycle (the rising and falling edges), effectively doubling the memory chip's data throughput. DDR RAM also consumes less power, which makes it well-suited to notebook computers. DDR RAM is also called SDRAM II. HSMA takes product quality very seriously which was easily demonstrated in May 1999 when they became the first Semiconductor company in the United States to achieve ISO 9002,14001 certification simultaneously. ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. Our site has been registered by Underwriter's Laboratories Inc. to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 Standard and ISO 14001 Standard for Environmental Management. For those of you not familiar with ISO, this organization was founded in 1947. ISO is an international organization composed of national standard bodies from over 75 countries. ISO has defined a number of important computer standards, the most significant of which is perhaps OSI (Open Systems Interconnection), a standardized architecture for designing networks. What this means to our customers is that Hynix meets a rigorous set of international quality standards which ensures they will consistently receive the highest quality product available on today's market.
